Koa, a cocoa fruit juice manufacturer, is dedicated to providing above-average and fair payments to smallholder farmers in Ghana. From day one, Koa has maintained full transparency about these payments. However, they have faced challenges in providing concrete proof and making credible data actionable for their B2B partners, such as large chocolate producers. To address this, we implemented a 3-layered process enabling Koa to trace and verify every single transaction at the origin. This verified data is then shared with buyers like Sprüngli and VomFass, who purchase cocoa fruit juice as an ingredient of their products. They can utilise the provided data for CSR assessments, reporting, or communication purposes.

By verifying every single transaction and irreversibly storing it on a decentralised ledger, Seedtrace and Koa set a new standard for transparency and accountability in the cocoa industry. The transparency data is updated in real-time for each batch of cocoa fruit sold. Thanks to engraining credible transparency and proven impact data into their product offering, Koa secures significant competitive advantages.
